There are some benefits of running in a dry environment, the biggest benefit is when you pour water over your head and body that you don't need to be too concerned about your socks and shoes getting wet. If they do your running shoes will dry out very quickly. You want to avoid your socks and shoes getting wet as it adds that extra bit of weight to your feet and in turn you need just a little more energy to run faster. The extra weight on your feet will also mess up your natural running stride and style too. Its best just to avoid getting your running shoes and socks wet.
